Rabiot has been left out of France's squad for the Nations League group-stage openers against Italy and Belgium as the French midfielder is currently a free agent following his departure from Juventus. As such, Rabiot has been training alone and Deschamps has explained why he left the 29-year-old out of France's squad.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Rabiot's contract at Juventus was set to expire in June earlier this year amid interest from multiple top European clubs including Barcelona, Manchester United and Milan. The midfielder decided to let his contract run out, however, no club made the move to sign him this summer and he has now been left out of a job following the end of the transfer window.

WHAT DESCHAMPS SAID
Speaking to the media, Deschamps said: "Adrien Rabiot has a somewhat embarrassing situation. His contract was expiring and he was solicited by several teams but now he's without a team and doesn’t train in a group.
"I hope he can quickly choose a club that can then bring him back to us."
WHAT NEXT FOR RABIOT?
There is still hope for Rabiot to join a top European club this season with Barcelona reportedly interested in signing him as a free agent amid their current midfield injury crisis. Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr have also been credited with interest in Rabiot.
